The article “Legal Nature and Protection of Domain Names Under Bulgarian Law” by George Dimitrov, attorney-at-law, Managing Partner at Dimitrov, Petrov & Co., was published in the February issue of the “Market and Law” magazine. In this article Mr. Dimitrov makes a comparative-legal analysis of the discussed problems by making an overview of Bulgarian legislative framework, as well as the legislative framework in countries belonging to the continental legal system, as well as the practice of American courts related to this issue.

In February 2002 the first stage of the activity of the working group with the Supreme Bar Council for preparing a new Draft Attorneys’ Act was completed. As a member of this group George Dimitrov, attorney-at-law, Managing Partner at Dimitrov, Petrov & Co. Dimitrov, Petrov & Co. has taken part in the preparation of Chapter II of the draft – “Associations.” Other members of the working group are renowned legal experts as Dr. Alexander Dzherov; Iordan Shkolagerski, Todor Tabakov, Borislav Boyanov and others.

In January 2002 there are three new incomers in the team of Dimitrov, Petrov & Co. - Sonia Nikolova, Milka Ivanova and Albena Vlajkova.

Sonia Nikolova has graduated from Sofia University in 2000 with a LL.M. degree in Law. She speaks English and German fluently. Her practice areas are Commercial Law, Civil Law, and Intellectual Property Law. She will take the position of a Junior Associate with the firm.

Milka Ivanova has also graduated from Sofia University’s Faculty of Law in 2001. Her practice areas are Commercial Law, International Private Law, and Internet Law. She is fluent in English, German, and Russian. She is also appointed as a Junior Associate in Dimitrov, Petrov & Co.

Albena Vlaykova has graduated from the American University in Bulgaria with a B.A. degree in Political Science/International Relations. She will be the new Office Manager of Dimitrov, Petrov & Co.

The article “Certain Legal Aspects Concerning the Development of E-commerce in Bulgaria” by Mr. George Dimitrov – Managing Partner at Dimitrov, Petrov & Co. - was published in the January issue of the “Market and Law” magazine. In this article Mr. George Dimitrov presents a comparative analysis of Bulgarian and European acts on electronic commerce and proposes changes to Bulgarian legislation in this area with a view to its improvement.

In January the lawyers of Dimitrov, Petrov & Co. prepared model Terms of Service for rendering the service “free web hosting” for the Bulgarian Association for Internet (BAI) which terms will be available to all its members. The preparation of these terms illustrates the support of Dimitrov, Petrov & Co. to the policy of BAI that does not permit the existence of web sites with illegal content. These terms incorporate the conditions of the legal acts that concern the activity of Internet providers: Bulgarian E-document and E-signature Law, Law on Protection of Personal Data, and etc. The terms of service are consistent with the Regulations and Recommendations for the Proper Use of Internet and the Code on Ethics of BAI, as well as with the position of the Governing Body of BAI on the arguments concerning the hosting of sites with child pornography. The lawyers of Dimitrov, Petrov & Co. are willing to help the members of BAI who use the terms in conformity with the law. The legal experts from Dimitrov, Petrov & Co. will conform the terms of service to the individual needs of every Internet provider if this is prearranged. They will also bring the terms up-to-date in case the legal or economical regime changes; they will protect the rights of the parties to the Terms of Service, and will help those terms to be understood by the users. The Internet providers – members and non-members of BAI - should contact the Governing Body of BAI for the terms of use of the Terms of Service. « Previous  Next »
