Our Trainee Iva Belcheva’s Team among the Winners in the World’s Largest Moot Court Competition
08 May 2020
The team of the Faculty of Law of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, with the participation of our trainee Iva Belcheva, took the biggest award and ranked among the best teams in the world winning Jessup - the world’s largest moot court competition with participants from over 750 law schools in 100 countries and jurisdictions.
The Competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations.
Every September a case called Compromis is released, related to current problems from the “grey area” of international law and the participants argue alternately as applicant and respondent. This year’s Compromis focused on the use of autonomous weapons without human control during war, state succession and criminal liability of heads of state for war crimes.
Following the tremendous success of her team, Iva said: “The competition was a great challenge for me but I learned that when one works hard and has a solid team behind him/her, there is no difficulty that one cannot overcome.”
Congratulations, Iva! We wish you even more success in the future, and as for the solid team – you can rely on us!« Previous Next »
