Mr. Metodi Baykushev is a managing partner at Dimitrov, Petrov & Co., which he joined in 2006. He is currently heading the Dispute Resolution Practice Group and is a co-head of the Public Procurement Practice Group at the law firm.
 
Mr. Metodi Baykushev has broad practical experience in commercial litigation and arbitration – both domestic and international. His key expertise is complemented by serious track record in debt collection, insolvency, medical malpractice, public procurement, construction disputes and administrative litigation. He is an experienced counsel with more than 10 years' practice in advising and representing major international and domestic companies in a number of court and arbitration disputes, DAB procedures under the FIDIC books and in procedures for review of various administrative acts.

He has been elected a Secretary General of the National Committee in Bulgaria of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Representative experience:

 Leading Bulgarian law consultant of Astaldi S.p.A in all stages of the implementation of the EUR 162 million Parvomai – Svilengrad railway construction project;
 Advised Astaldi S.p.A in an ICC Arbitration with respect to a dispute on the final account after the completion of the Parvomai – Svilengrad railway project;
Leads the team that represents Hygia AD in the debt recovery of a EUR 20 million portfolio of commercial debts from more than 200 debtors;
 Represents Hygia AD in a EUR 160,000 lawsuit against Multi-Profile Hospital Sv. Marina EAD, Varna with regard to claim for damages from abusive demanding of a performance guarantee under a procurement contract;
 Represented Gorichene Energy EOOD in a commercial arbitration case against the National Electricity Company before the Court of Arbitration at the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry under a claim for contractual damages;
 Represents Telenor Bulgaria EAD in a commercial lawsuit before the Sofia Court of Appeal at a material value of EUR 220 000 against a telecommunication services provider in Bulgaria;
 Consultant of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the implementation of the “Bulgaria: Policy Advice and Implementation Support for e-Procurement Reform in the Public Procurement Sector” Project;
 Leads the litigation team that represents a major utilities sector service provider in the appealing before the first and second instances of a significant number of penalty acts issued by the State Financial Inspection Agency;
 Represented Pharmnet AD in a complex deal for acquisition of claims from Actavis Holding B.V for an amount exceeding EUR 30 million ensuing from a loan facility contract, secured with registered pledges. The deal also involved a multipartite  settlement of a number of commercial disputes, including a pending insolvency procedure;
 Worked on the seller’s side in the EUR 28 million sale of 82% of the shares of Net Info.BG JSCo by one of the largest consumer magazine publishers in Europe - Sanoma Magazines;
 Advised and represented Ericsson Telecommunications Bulgaria OOD before the Commission for Protection of Competition and the Supreme Administrative Court in a EUR 10.5 million public procurement review procedure;
 Advised Corporate Commercial Bank AD (in insolvency) during the much publicized precedent case of placing it under special supervision. Led the team that completed the full and thorough legal analysis of more than 95% of the EUR 2.9 billion credit portfolio of the bank;
 Represented Astaldi S.p.A before the Sofia City Court in a EUR 5 million construction dispute with one of its main subcontractors;            Represented a company from the Mareshki group before the Supreme Administrative Court in appealing provisions of Ordinance No. 4 on the terms and conditions for prescribing and dispensing of medicines. The provisions which limited competition on the medicines retail market were finally repealed by a 5-member Panel of the Supreme Administrative Court;
 Represented PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv AD before the Supreme Administrative Court in appealing of a EUR 400,000 tax assessment act;
 Represented a contracting entity operating in the utilities sector before the Supreme Court of Cassation in a complicated EUR 460,000 commercial lawsuit under a claim for compensation of damages allegedly caused in a public procurement procedure; 
 Represented Second Municipal Hospital for Obstetrics and Gynecology Sheinovo AD on a EUR 270,000 medical malpractice case before the Sofia Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Cassation;
 Represented a major utilities sector service provider before the Supreme Court of Cassation in three lawsuits at total material value of EUR 300,000;
 Represented Mareshki Group of Companies before the Supreme Administrative Court in several administrative cases on appealing the conditions for concluding agreements with the National Health Insurance Fund;
 Lecturer on Payment Order Procedures in the 2010 Training for State Bailiffs, organized by the Ministry of Justice under the Operational Programme for Administrative Capacity;
 Local correspondent in the "ABRplus (Administrative Burden Reduction) Study, Lot 2 Public Procurement" Project, commissioned by the EC’s Directorate General Enterprise and Industry;
 Local correspondent in the “Benchmarking Public Procurement 2016” Project, implemented by the World Bank Group.

Mr. Baykushev is a member of the Sofia Bar Association, the Arbitration Council at the KRIB Court of Arbitration, the International Bar Association, the AmCham Public Procurement and EU Advisory Committee, the  ICC Young Arbitrators Forum.
